I have a Evinrude 6hp, Model 6805M 1978. It has a long lower unit on it. I have purchased 2 complete matching motors for parts. But they are both short shafts. I am wanting to change the lower unit to a short shaft. I was told by someone that I have to remove the power head. Does anyone know for sure if that is right or not. The person that told me that is not a regular boat motoer repair person, so I wanted to ask you guys that know for sure. Thank You. Michael 1
