I have had my boat out three times this year. The first time it ran great. The second time it dogged out a little. The last time I had it out it will fire up and then die. I thought it was sucking air somewhere in the fuel line so I replaced the hose from the tank to the motor and the line to the fuel pump. I am getting fuel to the fuel pump. Not sure what is going on from there. I sprayed the carb with carb cleaner and blew it out with an air hose (while still on the engine). I think I have an issue with either the fuel pump or the carb. Any ideas on next steps to try?

Remove the fuel line that goes from the pump to the carb, pull the engine over a couple of times and see if fuel pulses out, if so it's a good chance your fuel pump is working. Try squirting some gas/oil mixture into the carb and see if it will run, if so I would guess that it's time to overhaul the carb.

Thanks for the advice. I pulled the hose between the fuel pump and carb. It did spew some gas as I was pulling the rope. As always, it must have had some gas in the carb as it turned over and then nothing when I reconnected the hose. I also hit it with some carb cleaner and an air hose in hopes it would run...no luck. Next steps...soak the carb or rebuild? Where can I get a rebuild kit for this vintage motor?
