Got the boat on the water today, it was hard to start at first but eventually started. Ran through one tank of gas (6 gallons) and was running great. Switched tanks and continued our day. Was running at about 1/4 throttle, as I started to throttle up, the motor lugged and quit suddenly. When I turned the key, I hear a click, but the motor does not turn. Up until the motor quit, it was running great, no power loss, no abnormal noises. Fuel tanks were new, gas was fresh and mixed correctly.

I have not had a chance to look over the motor and start troubleshooting yet. Any thoughts as to what may have happened, best and worse case scenarios, and where to start troubleshooting.

Either it is locked up or one of your battery connections (at ENGINE) went south. Remove and clean those connections.

Remove spark plugs and see if you rotate the engine by hand, if ok,
check spark and compression, if ok, check fuel delivery.
