I have a Nissian 50 hp 1999 motor. The alarm in contol box goes off at 5000 RPM and the rpm drop. When placed into nuetral the alarm goes off. I have replaced waterpump and thermostat. What else could it be. This happened after I towed another boat. Before that engine ran great. Please help

Re: alarm

What is your precise model/serial? Assuming it is a 50D2, then page 42 of the owner's manual http://www.tohatsu.com/tech_info/own_man_pdfs/Toh40D2_50D2.pdf explains that the alarm is for overheat (only). Are you seeing a good stream from the telltale? What water pump kit did you use? Was it definitely a full kit, and definitely for that specific motor? If the temp sender has failed, that might cause the alarm system to think that you are overheating, even though temps are normal.
