Hi

I have a johnson 25hp 25r72r which i think has been converted to longshaft. when i replaced the impellor i noticed there is a spacer which has 2 o rings on either end that goes over the gear selector rod.
this spacer seems to be too short as one end doesn`t seem long enough to locate into anything. should it have a longer spacer with it being converted to a long shaft. would it hurt anything if i left it as it was , does this stop fumes going into the hood area
hope someone can help
many thanks
Dave

You sure that spacer doesn't go over the driveshaft? I don't remember any type of spacer over the shift shaft.

I cannot see the part you are referring to on the parts diagram

It may be a part included in pump overhaul kit that is not required for your motor and someone just stuffed it somewhere they thought it might fit.

Some models do have a spacer that fits over the drive shaft as Daviet says.
