Hello again, my 2000 Sugar Sand 175hp Merc Jet has very low rpm's in the start neutral position, it takes 4 or 5 tries in order to start it, I have to turn the key with one hand and with the other hand put it in reverse very quickly. Once running it goes very well with a top speed of 45 mph with 5 people aboard.
Is there some kind of adjustment on the carb linkage.... thanks

Re: RPM very low in neutral start

I am not familiar with the 175's but there has to be an Idle adjustment screw somewhere in the linkage on the engine . It will be on the linkage in the area where the throttle cable connects from the control to the engine linkage . There is also an idle air mixture setting on each carb . Did this start suddenly or has it been an ongoing problem ? If you could post a pic of the area where the throttle cable attaches to the engine I might be able to spot it .

This is how it was when I bought the boat 3 weeks ago.
