My husband is trying to drop the lower unit on the motor (1976 70hp Evinrude). He's removed the 6 bolts and it's still not coming down more than about an inch and a half. No one around has a manual (locally) and I have ordered one, but we'd like to get the boat back out on the lake while his parents are still up visiting. There appears to be a rod holding it up still, but he nor his dad can figure out how to remove it. If anyone can please tell me how to help them, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.
