Bot this motor now I want to drain and refill the lower unit. I can find only ONE plug. Is this used to drain AND fill ??? I'm used to having both an upper hole and the lower drain plug. I feel a little dumb, but I want to do this correctly. Thanks

10 hours and no reply.

Yes that is right only one plug ... later ones have a level plug as well.

Sorry I don't know how much oil you put in it. Stock answer .. "fill according to the instructions in the owners manual"

Unless anyone says differently. Lay it down and fill but leave a small air space!

Thanks Vic. Until I get a manual I 'll drain and measure what I get then, turn it over and fill as you suggest. When I buy the lube I'll ask if they know the capacity. Any thoughts for the lube? I heard some use Mobil One gear lube. Thanks for taking time for my question.

Any high viscosity ( around sae 75/90) outboard gear oil will be suitable.
