I have a 1958 sea horse 35hp, i hae been cha nging out coils, points, and condensers. How do get the timng set right, i noticed a mark on a brass plate under neath the coils and stuff but have no idea what to line it up with?
There is a key on the crankshaft taper that fits in the slot on the flywheel.
F_R can tell you the torque value. The flywheel torque is very important. Too little and you'll break the key. Break the key too many times and the crankshaft is trashed. Too much torque and you spread open the hole in the flywheel and it pulls down too far eventually.
