I have bought my first boat and I love it but there are problems because I was ignorant going in. Now I have an overheating problem and was wondering if I could get some pointers as to where to start. thermostat? water pump? hoses? anything would be helpful. Thanks

Yeah, its surely the impeller. Its a pain to replace the first time, once you get the hang of it, it gets easier. Do a search - there are a couple of good threads on how to replace it. Make sure you get all the chucks of old impeller out.

Yup, the town water has it's own propulsion, the impeller propels the water outside the boat into the boat engine.

What Merc 120 do you have? I assume an I/O. What year and drive? On what boat?
