i've found a really good deal on a 91 reinell. it has a 4.3 engine with a omc cobra outdrive. my main concern is the cobra outdrive. i'm familiar with merc's, but have really no experiance with the newer omc's, just an older one from the early 70's. just looking for an honest opinion. thanks very much, korey

The Cobras were an, ahem, very troublesome drive, lots of gear and shifting issues. Add in the fact they are obsolete now, OMC out of business, and the parts well starting to go dry, I would pass on it and keep looking. A deal will pop up on one with a Mercruiser or Volvo sooner or later. And, no matter what you choose to buy, have a pre-purchase inspection done by a MARINE mechanic, money well spent!
