had it out on the the lake for the first time in a long time and it kept getting very hot. i assumed something may have been the problem underneath the thermostat cover (maybe those little valves were stuck or something. anyways took it apart on the water and it all went flying, lost the thermostat cover and two little spring loaded valves. This cover is discontinued and i have been searching for months, but cant find any used part.
my question is: would it work if i removed the thermostat, and left out the two little valves and built my own cover to put on? i understand that the motor may not warm up as quickly, but i always run it in warm weather. I am not sure what all those peices do under there but will it just circulate water all the time if i leave out the thermostat and two valves?
picture with thermostat in, and thermostat out. the two other holes are both supposed to have some kind of spring loaded valves in them.
