Im 75 mi from a Four Winns dealer help

Im currently on vaca, and im getting that whining noise when i turn the wheel

i need power steering fluid in my 4.3 Volvo/penta
only problem is Im a long way from the dealer

Can I use automobile power steering fluid without damaging system
or does it have to be FW brand(synthetic?)

recommendations please

Regular automotive powersteering fluid will do nicely. Are you sure it's low? Make sure you check the belt tension while your at it.

I forgot to add that you can pick up your fluid at most any corner store so forget about driving 75 miles, lol

Dexron ATF is all you need.
PS: You do not need a 4Winns dealer, any Volvo dealer will do if you want the real thing, but it's not necessary. Just use the ATF.

While your at it, make sure your power steering pump and hoses arent leaking and thats why its missing fluid.
