Do any of y'all know what outboard the cobra's lower unit was "stolen" from? You can tell that it is an outboard lower unit just by looking at it while it's removed from the upper unit, but do y'all know what year, and horsepower it's from? Just curious so that if I ever have to replace the lower unit gears if they can't find them under the cobra numbers.

James

James...yes it came from an outboard, that's why there are 3 screws for the lube, bottom , middle and top. I was told it was from their big old outboards 250 or 300 from back in the 80's but can't swear by it. Because of this was also told the best way to fill the gear lube is start at the bottom until it comes out the middle and then fill from the middle until it comes out the top.
