87 mercury 135 beeper not sounding

Hope you can help!!! Just bought a center console boat with a 135 merc ob on it well so far things aren't so good..The beeper doesn't go off when we turn the key on so we replaced the beeper in the control box..guess what still not working or for lack of better word is "some timey".Wondering if anyone else has had this problem or can help me figure out what's going on before summer is over...I'm very greatful for anyhelp...Thanks in advance:)

Check the buzzer by opening the engine cover and grounding the tan/blue wire at the cylinder head (Temperature switch). If that works then check the wiring from the oil warning module to the buzzer (that's where the beeps are generated). If that all looks ok, then you may need to replace the module.
