1987 3.0 Mercruiser

Just replace the ignition coil, starts and runs like a champ, until I heard a rattleing, after inspection, looks like the where the belt wraps around the crack is loose, like almost broke off a lot of wiggle to it, and i have what appears to be metal shaveings/metal dust all over engine compartment, not sure on even where to start, someone told me that I probally just need to tightin the one bolt on front of crank, but this thing seems likes its ready to break off, any help would be great, thanks

Welcome aboard!! And please proof read your post the spelling makes it a little difficult to make out your issue but by what I can understand your crank shaft pully is lose and you have metal shavings in the engine bay? If it were me I would reove the belt and then the pulley and replace all the bolts with the proper grade and chase the threads in the end of the crank and reattach everything and run it on muffs for a while and re-torque and ru it again but if all possible I would try to find out why the bolts came loose look at the pulley when it's off make sure it's flat lay it on a flat surface and look for a uneven match to the surfaces. That is if this what your inquiring about (loose crank shaft pulley bolts)?????

Whats loose and feels about to fall off is the circular piece of equipment that the belt actually is wrapped around, it is the bottom, center of the three pieces the belt is wrapped around, its not the alternator, and I think the top is the cooler, which I think makes the bottom the crank, from what I have seen with research, it seems that this piece might be grinding on something, but I have to get some pieces around the compartment taken down so I can get a good look, thanks for the advice so far.

Ayuh,... Your harmonic Balancer has disintergrated,.... It needs to be Replaced,...
