I picked this outboard up out of a guys backyard for $37.50.
I decided to make it a project and restore it
I pulled the recoil starter to check for spark and there was great spark.
I replaced all the fuel and air lines.
I pulled the carbuerator off and went through it completely. The guy had used a piece of conduit (jerry rigged) for a sediment bowl. I replaced that with a vintage sediment bowl.
I gapped the plugs at .30 The points at .20
It started it in a barrel of water and it idled smoothely for the 20 minutes I ran it.
The impeller seems to be doing it's job.
I put it in gear (forward) and gave it the gas (fast) and it just about emptied the barrel. i shut it down until I filled up the barrel again.
This time I started it and shifted it into forward and turned the throttle to slow and it stalled. This happened quite a few times.
Any ideas out there about what I should do to get this motor running smooth as exlax?
