Alpha1 gen 2 thread

I have a Alpha 1 Gen 2 sterndrive, what I need to know is what is the thread size of the studs that hold the drive onto the bell housing. The reason for this is I had a locking nut, but no key and had to cut the nut off. I know it is not a 10 or 12mm as these do not fit. Any ideas?

It's a 7/16-20 thread, but I wouldn't get a SS nylock to replace it. SS nuts on a SS stud is likely to gall the thread and really cause a problem. The OEM lock nuts are plated brass and do not gall the threads. If you can find a brass nylock, that would work a lot better.
