{ what up} my question is. I have a 20ft stingray cuddy and I"m looking for an auxiliary motor how big does it have to be. plus i have a 5speed trolling motor is it good enough to bring me back to shore. I also have a 55hp johnson.

If you are unable to see the shoreline a trolling motor would not get you back to shore. If you are more than 3 miles from shore the trolling motor would not get you back to shore. If you have only one battery on board a trolling motor will not get you back to shore. Is your 55 Johnson the main engine or are you saying you have this engine that could be used for an auxiliary. If its the later, using it as an auxiliary would be like using a post maul to drive a thumb tack. 15 HP would be great plenty as an auxiliary.
