Purchased this 87 Ranger Boat w/original 150 merc. on it a couple of years ago. I am the third owner, the second was a friend of the first owner who was a certified outboard motor repairman. The second owner told me when the original guy got it he took the (new at the time) oil injection system off of it as he didn't trust it in them days and oil and gas has been mixed ever since. Purchased it and immediately took it to a outboard mechanic and had him check it out, tune it, change impeller. He said compression was right on and did not appear to have many hours on it. Boat runs excellent whenever I use it which is not much but the one issue I see is that when I run it 3/4 to wide open the heat gauge climbs fairly quick. I can't run it hard over 3-5 minutes before having to back off as the gauge it right next to hot. If I run it 1/2 throttle no problems. Any suggestions?? Thanks All..!!
