89 johnson 60 horse gas leak

hi i have a 89 60 horse johnson. .when i tilt the motor all the way up and the put the travel stop down for traveling down the road my carbs dump out and gas leaks out of the bottom of the air intake making a mess in my transom. i have already replaced the cork gasket on the air intake but it still does it. is this normal or a carb problem? thanks

It can be normal. I like to run my boat out of gas by disconnecting the fuel line while at the dock and running it till it runs out. Then I leave the fuel line of till the next time I use the boat.

disconnect fuel live before tilting. it is 100% normal. you are taking level carbs, and tilting them so the fuel has to go somewhere.
