What kind of range should I be getting with my slickcraft 195 SS with the mercruiser 888.

50 gal tank.
Get up on plane, trim out, and back off to throttle enough just to keep on plane.

just wondering.

Re: What kind of range

You have to know what you burn per hour at that rpm. Run at your cruising speed with a full tank for 2 hours or so. Go back to the fuel dock & fill it up again. Say you take 20 gallons at that point for argument sake. If you ran for 2 hours & took on 20 gallons; you burn an avergae of 10 gallons per hour (gph). With any tank you want to always calculate a range with at least a 10% reserve; assume you have a 40 or 45 gallon capacity for range calculation. With 10 gph & 40 gallons to burn you can run at that cruising speed for 4 hours. Calculate your range based on the speed you're running at that cruising RPM. If you're running 18 mph at that rpm, and you know that you can run 4 hours with your 40 gallon capacity; your range would be 72 miles. Remember that these calculations are estimates. If weather picks up you're fuel consumption will varry significantly. If you are going to be doing some distance cruising or off shore runs; invest in a fuel flow computer such as a flow scan. It will tell you your current rate of consumption & will calculate your range based on your capacity.
