Control problem

Hello all

I have a 1979 70hp Evenrude that will not go to full throttel only about half.
I took the cable off of the throtel linkage and it will operate fine but as soon as i hook it up it will only go half throttel.I adjusted the adjustment screw but the idle is way to high and when i set it back it will only go into half throttel. We took the remote control apart and everything seems to be working ok the cables are original so i know they are the right length.

the cables are 30 years old..they may be rusted or frayed inside...did you try to get full motion with them off the controller...see if it was the cables and not the controller....

if you did what you said, you should see the issue on the motor...

beause the control moves the full way when dissconnected from the motor...right????

try and move the throttle linkage after you remove the cable...does it move all the way??

if so...Id look for something in the way of the linkage's travel down in the area where the cable attaches.
