no spark what to do

hi guys ,
got a 1996 225 offshore mercury died last week have checked a few things fuel filters etc , it runs for about 15 seconds then dies when you check if there spark there is none but then again in an hour it might fire up but then die where do i go from here very very frustrating

Get the following items: a good multimeter, a DVA adapter and go to CDI's website and download the elecrical testing manual. From what you have posted it sounds electrical......
