My Johnson has QL82C but I found a reference that suggests QL77JC4

I did find that both plugs are recommended for my motor, is there an advantage to having one or the other?

One plug is hotter than the other, The lower the number the hotter the plug is.

Re: What is the difference in plugs

If two or more plugs are in the current recommended list you can use either. The first one listed will be the preferred one though if there is any preference.

With Champion plugs the higher number is hotter than a lower number

( with NGK plugs and Denso plugs the lower number is hotter. Dont know about other makes without looking it up)

Look up the latest recommendations HERE

EDIT

Just read elsewhere on the forum that someone prefers the QL82C for trolling because its just that little bit hotter. You may want to experiment to discover which suits your needs better
