How the heck do I get the shift rod unhooked to drop the lower unit?
I noticed today that I had no water coming from the tell tell but had tons coming from the hole where the shift rod goes up through the king pin (at the bottom). I managed to drop the lower unit far enough to see that there is a boot over the rod to keep water out of the gears so my guess is that my gear case is prbably full of water now. It seems that in order to get water out that hole the pump must be filling the whole cavity to the point that it overflows there.
