Shoremaster cantilever boat lift can't lift boat

I have an 18' 4winns being lifted by a 3000 lb. capacity Shoremaster cantilever lift. It worked very well, but I had to move it. After the move I got the boat stuck on the lift, and tried to remove it by pulling it with another boat. BIG mistake. It will not lift the boat. It gets hung up in one rear corner. I can't see how it gets stuck, but it works fine without the boat. When I examine the lift, I think the carriage that the boat sits on is not exactly parallel with the outside frame. Any ideas on what is wrong or/and how to fix it?? Thanks...

Ayuh,... Sounds like you racked it out of square...
The "Fix" would be to realign it to square again...

Best way would be to take it out of the water and square it up.

Can't say for certain because I'm not there, but if it was sitting on uneven bottom the weight of the boat could cause it to twist and jam. No boat, no weight, no twist, no jam.
As long as the base is not true it will twist evey time.
I moved my lift this year and had to level the front, then get the slope I wanted to the rear and level the rear also.
I did not have to re-square the lift frame, but your lift may be different.

Check the pulleys to see if they all turn freely as the cable moves. Lube them up really well or replace them if they are really rusted.

I have the same issue with a jet ski lift and it is due to the pulleys needing replacement. The jet ski is light so I can just man-handle the craddle back square as I crank it up and down.
