I'm working on a 75 Merc 1150 and am having ignition problems. No Spark. I have read through several threads on this forum and done some testing. It appears that the coil and CDI are working. First I verified the wiring to be correct. Next I disconnected the mercury switch. Next I removed the brown and white on the distributor side of the CDI and placed a jumper there. Next I removed the coil wire from the cap and tested good for spark to ground. Next I installed the coil wire and pulled the #1 plug, moved the flywheel to TDC, grounded the plug, turned the ignition on and tested good for spark. This all leads me to believe the trigger in the distributor is bad. Anyone have any thoughts? I'm new to mercs but not new to mechanics. How does the rotor and trigger assemble remove from the distributor housing?

Thanks.

The trigger is integral to the distributor housing. You need to buy a new (rebuild) trigger and install your rotor shaft into the new housing. A service manual is vital for this.
