1974 Evinrude 6hp impeller

Wondering what is involved with replacing the impeller on a 1974 6hp Evinrude. Do I need to buy a repair manual or is it pretty straight forward?

A shop manual is cheap and very, very useful.

You may want a manual to explain how to separate the lower end from the power head, or how to rebuild the carburetor, or change the gearbox oil, or numerous other things you will not want to pay $50-$90 an hour to have done.

Get a manual if you plan on servicing and keeping the motor, otherwise it's pretty straight forward. Do a search on 6hp impeller, it's a common motor and topic.
