Carb kit for 3 HP twin.

Where can I buy a carb rebuild kit for my Evinrude ( 1952-54 circa ) model 3012? I see a kit listed on this website but it doesn't include the float. My float is cork and it looks pretty old. It is covered with a dark coating of some shellac type substance, don't know if it's old gas or made that way to preserve it. Thanks.

The cork float is coated by the Evinrude factory with shellac to protect it from gas and oil damage. Unfortunately the alcohol added to todays fuels dissolves this covering and distributes it through out the carburetor. If the float is in good condition, clean it with alcohol and coat it with Super Glue. This makes it impervious to gas and alcohol. chapsboy, thanks for the info. I will keep my old float and coat it with super glue as you mentioned. Great tip.
