When prepping my boat for winter (Merc 3.7L inline 4cyl, 165 hp), I decided to inspect exhaust tubes and elbows. New rubber tubes have been purchased and will be re-installed in the Spring. When picking up the parts, the parts man asked if I need any adhesive. I've never heard of using an adhesive for joining exhaust parts in 20+ years. I've always connected them with clamps and never experienced a problem. Are these exhaust components suppose to be sealed with an adhesive?
