I have a '64 9.5 Evinrude Sportwin. In taking apart the lower unit to reseal I noticed that the driveshaft (from eng. to lower unit) had a groove worn into it by a damaged water pump lower seal. What is the best way to repair it so a new seal will seal properly short of replacine the shaft? The groove is probably only .002 deep so can I just polish it out on a lathe? Will I need a different seal? Joseph
