Engine runs great at rpm's higher than idle but sometimes stalls after idling for a short period of time. Anyone have any experience with what will cause this as it is intermittent and sometimes happens while in critical spots such as docking the boat.

These motors are a little tempermental. They were the last generation of the FICHT motors, however, it was after BRP took over Evinrude and got the issues basically all worked out.

Check your spark plugs. Make sure they are fresh and gapped correctly. It is also important to make sure they are indexed properly.

This should help: http://www.boatsetup.com/PlgIndex.pdf

I can't say this is for sure what is causing your problems, however, some of the symptoms you describe are consistent with sparks plug fouling.

The next thing I would check is the fuel filter and pump. The filter is located behind the air intake cover.
