Hi, I have a 1988 Enivrude VRO 175hp and I recently hit something in the water. Since that moment the shifter is stuck in the forward position, I can't neither put it back to the neutral or the reverse position. But the forward position is still working very well. Does someone have any ideas on the problem?

Thank you very much

Re: Shifter is stuck in forward after accident

Do you mean that the motor is stuck in forward constantly ???
Have you taken the hood off and checked all the linkages ???
Have you checked the shift linkage going to the lower unit ???

Welcome to iboats.

yes, the motor is stuck in forward constantly. I did take off the hood, and the linkages seemed good, well it was making things moving in the motor. But I don't know a thing about outboard motor, so will check it again and I will pay more attention to the lower unit.

I'll keep you posted, thanks for the help.
