I have a 1996 40HP Mercury 4CYL 2 stoke serial#OG300620 all the research says these had WMA13 or WMA10 carbs (engine has 2 on it). The carbs on my engine have WMA2 stamped on them. Can anyone help clear this up??

Re: Carb identification problem

This is where i ran into problems. I could not find anything on a WMA2 myself and mercury is saying it should have 10 or 13s on it so im stuck here. Both carbs on mine are the same but they have have WMA2 stamped on them. Can i put 10 or 13s on it? Im at a total loss here. Having what i believe is a fuel starvation issue and was going to rebuild carbs till i ran into this mess. This is the second mercury motor i have had and nothing but issues out of both of them. If i could afford it i would just get a new motor but im stuck with this so i have to try and fix.

Re: Carb identification problem

Ok think i figured it out. On the top of the carb stamped in was 13-1-1455 on the top and 13-3-1385 on the bottom. From looking at the clymer manual the top would be a WMA13 in the number one position(top) built on the 145th day of 1995. The lower would be a WMA13 in the 3rd position(motor only has two so lower) built on the 138th day of 1995. Can anyone confirm if im right here. Also on the sides of the carbs cast in is the number 3330-830281-C
