 I have a 66' chrysler 50hp with battery ignition and compressions of 154 &143 . It apparently has a cold . It has a random cough or sneeze at idle speed . It has been timed and the points and condensers changed . I haven't had it at throttle because I live 35 miles from the lake and can only test in a barrel . Please inform me of any remedy that you have . Also if you know of muffs that will work on this engine Please let me know.
Thanks in advance .

Cough or sneeze is often terminal if not remedied.

Luckily, the treatment is cheap and easy.

Your motor is sneezing because the fuel/air mixture is too lean, that is too much air, not enough fuel.

Can be caused by a dirty carb, or perhaps just out of adjustment.

Locate fuel mixture screw on the carb.
With the engine running, turn it counterclockwise 2 full turns, then turn it back clockwise 1.5 turns.

Do you start from the seated position on the mixture needle ?
