Mercury 65 hp power

Just wondering how fast a 1968 mercury 65 hp outboard should push a 25 foot pontoon it has a 15" 3 blade prop I can only get about 25 mph oiut of it

I agree you are lucky i have a 60hp mariner on a 17ft dell quay that goes 25mph.

took it out the other day and it felt like one more piston kicked in and it went a lot faster, but only until i let off the accelorator never got it to do it again. where can I get a tune up kit (cap and rotor) changed the plugs no help. ran some sea foam and no help either motor did sit for 2 years and is hard to start and idle

that seems crazy fast, my 50 hp only does 18-20 on my 20 ft'r.. i know, apples and oranges though.. but still, that seems quick on a 25 ft'r
