If I run this motor at WOT it will start to slowly cut out if I do not prime the fuel bulb continuously. I have taken off and dismantled the fuel pump, but cannot see any tears in any of the diaphrams anywhere. It has me wondering if there would be any other reason it needs a primed and very hard bulb to function at high speed?

I bought this 1966 engine used. It looks like it's in superb shape and runs beautifully otherwise. This is the type of fuel pump it has now.

There is a gasket between the fuel pump and the engine; Is it airtight?

When you squeeze the primer bulb, do you see fuel leaking anywhere?

A 1966. To heck with it, replace the pump and any and all gasketry.

Sounds like ethanol might be at work on the diaphram ...
