Default Floor storage compartment for toon

Just wondering what ya'll think about putting a 6" deep by about 2' X 3' storage locker on the floor of my toon? Would this interfere with the splashing that occurs while underway? My crossrails only stick down about 3" or 4". Would it be better to put it in the front, where it's mostly out of the water at speed? I really wanted to put it in the back, but I'm afraid it may interfere with water flow. Any ideas?? Could I taper it toward the front to avoid this if I put it in the rear? 3" deep is not really deep enough for what I what to store. Thanks,

I hung a gas tank under mine, big mistake. I could feel it tugging all the time, very annoying. It was about 9" tall. I think just about anything is gonna create some drag.

Build a long narrow "pod" with vee shape and mount it under the deck. Build it from pt plywood and seal around the edges where it meets the deck. Then make a hatch through the floor for access. The pod could have drain holes just in case water gets in and items would be stored in waterproof bags used for kayaks. I use the bags for kayaking and they are 100% dry, even if dunked. Cheap ones can be found at Walmart. There is a company that makes pricy bolt on fiberglass sponsons similar to this in large scale for pontoon boats and claims higher speeds with better fuel economy.I've got a 20' toon so know what you are looking at under the deck.
