wont go into gear

Force 85 isnt' going into forward or reverse. previous owner thought it was idle. Took it back, they adjusted. Go back to ramp after their adjustment, this time I could hear it trying to go into forward, nothing in reverse.

where should I start?

COuld be your pinion gear worn down almost completely by haveing a bad adjustment from the past and whoever not knowing it. There is no way to adjust the linkage to not have at least one gear.

It revs to high prior to trying to engage in forward, reading these threads leads me to believe it might be cable?
