I'm working on my buddy's Supra 24V (He isn't very mechanical). We dropped it in the water the other day and didn't even make it out of the maria before it over heated. Long story short, the raw water impeller is toast. I pulled it out tonight and got a new one ordered. My question is, do I need to worry about the little chunks of rubber from the impeller fins? I am new to working on the inboard v-drives so I am not sure. I don't think it could be good to have those chunks in there, but is there a place that I could check, like a strainer or something? It is a 2006 Indmar 5.7. Thanks for the help.

Re: Disinigrated Impeller

Usually they get stuck in the power steering cooler and block off the water supply. Not sure of the PS cooler placement on that system, but usually they're on the right side of the engine, below the manifold.
You can disconnect the feed hose at the water pump and backflush from there.
