I have a 1984 Force 125 and am having trouble removing the crankcase cover. I do not have the block removed, it is still sitting in place. All bolts and screws have been removed including the 4 inside allen head bolts and the 2 guide pins removed also. My question is does the block have to be removed from the outboard before removing the crankcase cover? I can pry it open at the top but havent gotten rough with it until I know more. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Re: Crankcase Cover Removal Help Pls

Yes! You MUST remove the block from the leg. Two of the mounting bolts for the front cover are attached to the match plate. Six 9/16 nuts at the back, under the lower cowl. You need to remove the rear cover. Six 9/16 head (3/8) bolts in the front of the match plate. Then, the block needs to be pryed up--sometimes a difficult task. After lifting off the block and exhaust down tube, you can now access the four 9/16 nuts under the match plate.
