OMC Cobra water in stern drive crankcase

I have an 89 OMC Cobra 5.0 with a Ford V8 302. I had the prop seal go on my stern drive, it sucked in a bunch of water, and now makes a banging sound, it also stops my engine from starting unless I manually rotate the engine via a bar on the main pulley. Do I need to replace my entire outdrive or can I get away with just replacing the stern drive?

Any help would be appreciated.

Is that yes to replacing the whole outdrive or just the stern drive?
