Hey guys,
I have a 2004 Mako 192 with a 2004 Mercury 125HP Saltwater Series 2-stroke. I had it serviced in April and have taken it out a half dozen times since then and have amassed at least 20 hours since then.
Here's the problem...the boat has always had kind of a hard time starting, even when it was new. Mostly when it's cold but that's not necessarily the case anymore. I had all of the fuel lines replaced 2 summers ago and that seemed to solve the problem then. Now it's back and worse than before. It doesn't matter if the motor's been sitting for a week or if it's just been run for a couple of hours, it's hard to get it to start. In my estimation, it is a gas delivery problem. When I prime the bulb repeatedly and run the throttle WAY up, I can get it to start after 6 - 10 tries.
The latest issue is that now I can hardly get the bulb to fill up and get firm. There's no sign of cracking or wear on the bulb or visible fuel lines and no smell of gasoline in the stern area where the batteries are. It seems to me like the bulb's not creating enough suction to get the gas to the motor and it has me stumped.
Any ideas or suggestions? Please help...
Thanks....
Tom
