I have a 1989 bayliner ciera 2455 and it is powered by a 5.8 omc and the drive is a 7.4.
I am getting the engine rebuild and was told that I should not have a 7.4 drive on a 5.8 engine and the mecanic does not want to warranty his work unless I change the drive. The previous owner purchased it with this drive and used it for over 4 years and have heard from truck and auto mecanics that it should not be a problem.
Please advise as any information would be greatly appreciated.
