Merc 2004 4.3L MPI alarm

I have an intermittent dashboard alarm in my port side 4.3L. From other posts I understand it is probably not the temp or oil pressure alarms as those are continuous alarms. So the only other alarm I know of is the gear lube monitor, which is an intermittent alarm. I disconnected the two leads to the port gear lube monitor but the alarm still sounds. Any ideas?

There is no alarm when I run only the starboard side engine.

Disconnect the wire from one of the alarm sensors [One at a time] and see if it stops.If it continues the alarm wire is shorted to ground.This should be a tan wire with a blue stripe

You say it's not a continuous alarm, so, what sound is the alarm makeing?
MPI engines have different alarms for different things.
