Hello:

I have an Evinrude (2 HP) single cylinder 1983 Outboard Motor model # E2RCTD,

It is in a very good shape .. I test the piston compresion and It have 80 PSI .

But that motor have a shaky low idle .. I don't like It ,,

I want to change the Point / Condenser Ignition to electronic ignition system .

I found this inexpensive kit ..

http://www.milfordpower.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=Electronic+Ignition&Search.x=6&Search.y=15

I want to know where to find information (instructions) about the installation and modification using that kit for my Evinrude 1983 (2 HP) Outboard Motor .

Please somebody help me ..

Thanks in advance :

It is supplied with installation instructions.

You can follow the link to "more info" then to "more photos" and then click on the thumbnail of the instruction leaflet.

It is just about readable

Personally I would sort out the motor as it is ...... You may fit this module and find the same rough idling persists.

Thanks for reply:

That electronic device practically substitutes the entire point /condenser circuit ..

If the point is out of the circuit , how the device knows moment of the spark ?

Thanks in advance :

Those motors don't idle smooth when new, so don't expect to be able to make any big improvements, plus changing the ignition system will most likely have no effect on how smooth it idles.
