I own a 1967 65hp Mercury outboard, engine starts and runs good, when throttle applied engine stalls. I have let the engine warm up good and even after you do get it going when you bring it back to the bank, kill it, and let it sit for a second, it starts right back up and does the same thing. As long as you get it moving it will throttle down to an idle and throttle right back up the way it's suppose to. I was wondering if anyone has any answers as to why this is happening?

Maybe the idle mixture is set too lean. Try adjusting the idle mixture screws in the rich (CCW) direction 1/8-1/4 turn on each carb and see if that makes the ol' gal a bit less fussy.

The idle mixture screws are located top center of each carb throat and a long, skinny flat-blade screwdriver is perfect for making the adjustments.
