hey folks looking for your opinions on a possible purchase. its a 1995 Sugar Sand Mirage Jet Boat it has a single 120 hp Super Jet Mercury engine. "hasnt been in the water since 2003" looks like its in real nice shape very clean. Wondering if anyone knows of any known problems with this boat/motor. thank you

prior to making an offer you want to check for spark . If there is no spark plan on anywhere from $200 to $1200 just for parts. Also look under the boat by the jet drive make sure the large plate is on the boat and not bent ( checking for ride plate blown off )
Do not ever run one of these out of the water as you will blow the ride plate off , You must run a dealer type flush kit with very little pressure to operate them out of the water .

These are great little boats and yes they have a few quirks but nothing that can't be fixed.

It's just like buying a car, get in it and drive it. I was given a '96', after about a grand it still has problems, check from gears to carbs. If it has been sitting that long the gas may not be good. If you try to run bad gas it may goo up the carbs and cost you up to $500. If the drive gears are out, that will run about $1000. This boat should go about 50 mph and pull a med. size person.
