I have two 8.1 Volvo-Penta GM Engines. The low rise risers allow salt water to back up into risers then down to the engines. Volvo has Higher Riser to prevent this. Has anyone else had this issue. Last Picture is of a different riser showing normal wear.

How old is the engine? If in salt water, the risers may just be worn out.

The boat manufacturer is the one that determines riser height, not Volvo. Do you have a lot of extra weight on the back of your boat that is not normally there? Sometimes due to boat loading and number of people on the back of the boat at times, it becomes necessary to add extra height risers.
But your pictures look like they are just rusted out from age and salt water.

It's a 37 foot Four Winns. There OB so is the dealer. The inside of the risers have rust and corrosion were the exhaust passes. I can understand the cooling ports being rusted out but not the exhaust area. How about the heads and the valve ports. I've never seen this in the 40 plus years I've been boating.
